Update Lia vom 30.06.2025
- Chantal & Pikachu kennel 102 - This Sunday, we allocated more time for taking these 2 wonderful dogs out for a walk in the grass (to the detriment of being able to visit more dogs), but I can say it was a rewarding choice. Chantal and Pikachu are the 2 most friendly dogs in their gang, they come to people and let themselves be petted, they are very social and affectionate. But like it often happens, living in a group ecarisaj kennel has the advantage of more space and furry playmates, but for some reason (confirmed and re-confirmed for many years now) it also makes the dogs less visible when it comes to choosing a dog to adopt or foster.
Also, an important point that I would really like to make here, because there has been a lot of discussion lately - I would like to reiterate how important it is to try to help these dogs as well, giving them a chance to get out of here is just as important as for the ones in individual kennels. Please do not take away a dog's chance just because you cannot take them all - of course you can't, it is rarely the case that someone can. Even for 2 dogs it is hard to find a place together. Any dog that gets a ticket out of here, helps the remaining one(s) as well, giving them an extra chance to be chosen next time. Dying in the ecarisaj in the hope that a miracle comes along and all dogs from a group will be taken out together is just too sad and not pragmatic at all. So if you can help a dog from a group, please don't disqualify them to avoid leaving another one alone. Yes, it will be a bit sad for the one(s) left behind at first, but it is even more sad for all of them to spend years here without a chance.
Sorry for the digression, but I feel it was necessary.
Back to our sweethearts, both Chantal and Pikachu are great and adoptable dogs, for anyone with a bit of love and patience to spend. Everything was so new for them, imagine they have spent 3 years in the ecarisaj, and they got here when they were very young.
As we expected, lady Chantal was of course the bravest, I had to carry her for a bit, but then she started walking on the leash. With a bit of convincing, but still, her curious and trustful nature made her overcome her fear. When she saw herself on the grass, she started sniffing and walking around, not fully relaxed and cool as in her kennel, but still very nice. She kept going to Pikachu who was a bit more overwhelmed than herself, to tell him that it is alright and he can start enjoying. She came to us to get her hugs, share a couple of kisses and get encouragement to explore further. (She actually looks a lot like Yodi, who is developing every second spent with her foster moms, showing what a great dog she is!) Born 2022, under 50 cm, cheerful and sweet, of course compatible with any other dog. She has proven everything that she could in the ecarisaj, now all she needs is her ticket out.
Pikachu got a bit scared and needed to be carried to the grass, and once he arrived, he needed a bit of time to just lyi in the grass and process everything, all the smells, the novelty of the situation. If you watch the videos and photos in the album (which are ordered chronologically), you will see how he gradually finds his courage and delicately starts exploring. Very carefully, and constantly looking at us and touching us for encouragement, but he even wagged his tail briefly. So many emotions to process, and so little time. He has the most peaceful, delicate and sweet personality, he is a jewel with so much to offer and so little to ask in return. Born 2022, around 55 cm, and looking to amaze any family who would open up their arms and home for him.
I was really proud of these 2 fellows, they are amazing and special dogs, so adoptable and so in need of a chance. They find comfort and security in the people around them, which is truly amazing given the fact that they have never lived with people before, the only positive interactions are the very short ones that they have with the volunteers. And yet, they both trust and need people by their side. If someone decides to give them a chance, they will be rewarded tenfold, just watching their development will be magic
If they made so much progress in 35 minutes, imagine how they would evolve outside the ecarisaj, in a safe and loving environment. I really, really hope we get to see this as well!
