Zitat von LiaAlles anzeigenThis is the very sad story of Babi, ex kennel 99. He is a young male dog, around 2-3 years old, large size, who used to live with homeless people who found shelter near the woods up from where we live. There is a deserted cabin and they took shelter there. Babi was living with them. They are not great people, but he had a decent life with them, and he lived free. Recently, they were asked by the authorities to leave the cabin and they left, of course without taking Babi with them.
The Ecarisaj was called and a complaint was made against the dog by the people from the museum that is nearby. He sometimes barks at bicycles and of course, they wanted him "removed" from the picture. Someone actually tried to poison him before but he was smart enough not to eat the poisoned food. So, on 21 December, when we did the dewormings, we found him in kennel 99. I asked Dr. Pop about him, he said the police took him to the cabin and he had to take Babi away from there asap. He found he had a chip ,and previously belonged to someone in a village near Cluj.
He called the registered owner, who said he did not want Babi back. He used him as a sheep dog, but he was not interested in staying with the sheep, so he is useless to him and he does not want him back. Dr. Pop pushed the owner a bit talking about fines and abandoning dogs being illegal and he finally said he would come and take his dog back. When we were there, a man who worked for the owner was sent to pick Babi up. I tried talking to him but he did not want to discuss too much, he was just there to drive the dog to his employer.
He took him, however after 2 days, Babi showed up at the deserted cabin again and he is now living there again. He is quite sad because he is alone. A lady who lives nearby and feeds the other stray dogs in the area is feeding him too, I give her food for the dogs. It is only a matter of time until he ends up in the ecarisaj again, or worse. Unfortunately, we don't have any solutions for him at the moment, we are looking.
Babi is a large size dog, he weighs around 40 kilos and he has a great character. He reminds me a lot about Ursu, the dog who spent more than 1year on the chain in the ecarisaj, and was then lucky to find a home via FiN. Babi gets along perfectly with all other dogs, there are many people walking their dogs in his area and he has never caused any problems. He is very happy about company and wants to play. If the other dog is not interested in him, or does not behave nicely, he steps back immediately and minds his own business.
As far as people are concerned, he is a bit shy and cautious with strangers, but if he sees intentions are good, he turns into a wonderful friendly dog who cries for attention and wants to be hugged. He may have some guarding instincts, I saw him bark at bicycles like I said, but I have never seen any aggressive behavior at him.
For now, I will not post this story on facebook, because I don't want to do him more harm than good. If he manages to stay under the radar, he can continue to have a decent life where he is, even though it is not a great one. However, it is better than the ecarisaj or on a chain in a village. The only hope still remains that someone will fall in love with him and decide to give him a chance.
