ZitatBritta was also one of the very great surprises for me. The photos are quite bad because of her 2 "crazy" kennel mates, Rio and Amigo - who love to be the center of attention - sabotaged all our attempts to take her picture. The video is a bit shaky at first also because of those two, but you can see how Britta acts.
I met her almost 3 years ago, when I started going to the pound. She was in kennel 22 and kept on barking at us each time we gave her food or wanted to interact with her, at that time I was afraid of her, I knew much less about dogs and didn't understand she was barking out of fear, not aggression. After spending almost 2 years in the pound she finally moved into the board but for more then half a year she kept on hiding in the dog house and trebling terribly each time I tried to pet her, I felt so sorry for her I stopped trying to do that,
With this history imagine my surprise when I visited in February to see that she's not hiding anymore and came on her own to smell me. This time I wanted to see how much more can she do and yes, she can do much more. She ate very nicely from my hand and she responds very well to food. She came out of the kennel on her own and she enjoys now to be caressed - it's clear from the video. This is great progress taking into consideration that she didn't get any special attention, imagine how she would blossom if she would be lucky enough to find an experienced foster or adopter.
She is great dog and she spent too much time in shelters, I hope she finds her own people soon, she deserves it. She gets along with any dog, she's not dominant at all. Her future family should be more quiet, with older children if any.
